Argentina (AR) — civil law.

Nothing on this page describes United States practice. There is no certificate sold to an investor, no administrative sale of land for unpaid tax, and no redemption window after a subasta judicial in Argentina. If you arrived carrying US assumptions, read falsos-amigos first.

Repatriación y giro de fondos

Argentina’s foreign-exchange rules are made by the Banco Central de la República Argentina (BCRA) through numbered Comunicaciones "A" that are consolidated into the texto ordenado “Exterior y Cambios”. The version retrieved for this page is the text “al 14/09/2026”, whose last incorporated communication is A 8481 (BCRA PDF). These rules change by the month; re-check the current text before moving money.

The distinction that matters throughout is residente vs no residente, not nationality. An Argentine citizen living abroad may be a non-resident; a foreigner living in Argentina may be a resident.

We ask for one because writing these from primary sources is slow work, and knowing who relies on it tells us which country to do next.
