Argentina (AR) — civil law.

Nothing on this page describes United States practice. There is no certificate sold to an investor, no administrative sale of land for unpaid tax, and no redemption window after a subasta judicial in Argentina. If you arrived carrying US assumptions, read falsos-amigos first.

ANAC — Registro Nacional de Aeronaves

There is one aircraft register for the whole country, not one per province. The Registro Nacional de Aeronaves (RNA) “funcionará en el ámbito de la ADMINISTRACIÓN NACIONAL DE AVIACIÓN CIVIL (ANAC)” and has “jurisdicción sobre todo el territorio de la REPÚBLICA ARGENTINA” (Decreto 639/2024, Anexo, art. 1). It is public, digital and remotely accessible to anyone with a legitimate interest (Anexo art. 2; CA art. 47). It records:

  • ownership and transfers;
  • hipotecas on aircraft and engines;
  • embargos and other precautionary measures;
  • matrículas (registration marks, LV-…);
  • loss, de-commissioning and major modifications;
  • leases and other contracts that transfer the operator role;
  • anything else that affects the aircraft’s legal position (CA art. 45; Anexo art. 3);
  • recognition of rights under the Geneva Convention (Decreto-Ley 12.359) (Anexo art. 3(d)).

It is also the national entry point to the Cape Town International Registry and the place where IDERAs are filed (Anexo arts. 58–60). For an auction buyer, the RNA supplies the Certificado de Dominio y de Anotaciones Personales. No transfer can be registered without it (Anexo art. 31). It is issued in 24 hours and valid for 90 days (Anexo art. 32). The RNA is also where the court’s oficio turns the hammer price into a registered title. ANAC has a second role: as seller, of aircraft abandoned to it under CA art. 74 and Decreto 664/2024.

The opening section is open to everyone. The procedure in detail — statutes, deadlines, who may bid, and what the record does not say — is behind a free account.

We ask for one because writing these from primary sources is slow work, and knowing who relies on it tells us which country to do next.
