Argentina (AR) — civil law.
Nothing on this page describes United States practice. There is no certificate sold to an investor, no administrative sale of land for unpaid tax, and no redemption window after a
subasta judicialin Argentina. If you arrived carrying US assumptions, read falsos-amigos first.
Compra en comisión — bidding for an undisclosed principal
A bidder at an Argentine subasta may bid en comisión: for a principal he does not
name at the hammer. The device lets an abogado, a martillero colleague or a local
nominee bid for a client who cannot or will not attend, and it is how a non-resident
historically bought without appearing (see participar-en-la-subasta).
It is also an obvious vehicle for straw bidding and for the ligas de compradores that
electronic auctions were designed to break — which is why the newest regimes restrict or
ban it.

The opening section is open to everyone. The procedure in detail — statutes, deadlines, who may bid, and what the record does not say — is behind a free account.
We ask for one because writing these from primary sources is slow work, and knowing who relies on it tells us which country to do next.
