Argentina (AR) — civil law.

Nothing on this page describes United States practice. There is no certificate sold to an investor, no administrative sale of land for unpaid tax, and no redemption window after a subasta judicial in Argentina. If you arrived carrying US assumptions, read falsos-amigos first.

Tasación and perito — appraisal when there is no valuación fiscal

The opening price of an Argentine subasta of an inmueble is not an appraisal. It is a fraction of the valuación fiscal — the cadastral value the provincial catastro assigns for the impuesto inmobiliario — and a court-ordered tasación by a perito is the fallback, used only where no fiscal valuation exists or where the judge decides the statutory fraction would give the property away. Understanding which of the two produced the base printed in the `edicto` is the first step of any bid.

The opening section is open to everyone. The procedure in detail — statutes, deadlines, who may bid, and what the record does not say — is behind a free account.

We ask for one because writing these from primary sources is slow work, and knowing who relies on it tells us which country to do next.
