Argentina (AR) — civil law.
Nothing on this page describes United States practice. There is no certificate sold to an investor, no administrative sale of land for unpaid tax, and no redemption window after a
subasta judicialin Argentina. If you arrived carrying US assumptions, read falsos-amigos first.
Excepciones in the juicio ejecutivo — the closed list of defences
An Argentine execution is fast because the debtor’s defences are enumerated and
closed. The intimación de pago made by the oficial de justicia when the embargo is
levied “importará la citación para oponer excepciones” (CPCCN art. 542), and the
ejecutado has 5 days to raise every defence “en UN (1) solo escrito, conjuntamente
con el ofrecimiento de prueba”. Three acts are “irrenunciables” — the intimación de pago, the citación para oponer excepciones and the sentencia (art. 543). Anything
not on the list is dismissed “sin sustanciación alguna” (art. 547) and the
`sentencia de remate` follows at once.

The opening section is open to everyone. The procedure in detail — statutes, deadlines, who may bid, and what the record does not say — is behind a free account.
We ask for one because writing these from primary sources is slow work, and knowing who relies on it tells us which country to do next.
